Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PlanCanvas ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our website and application at plancanvas.app (the "Service"). We are committed to handling your data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for the Service is Eugenia Jongewaard. You can reach us for any data protection matter at support@plancanvas.app.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data: your email address and, optionally, a display name, when you create an account.
  • Content you create: the canvases, calendars, notes, and images you add to the Service.
  • Payment data: if you subscribe, billing is handled by our payment processor (Polar). We do not store your card details.
  • Usage and analytics data: if you accept analytics cookies, we collect usage statistics (pages viewed, approximate location, device type) to improve the Service. If you are signed in, this activity is linked to your account (your user ID and email) rather than being anonymous.
  • Waitlist data: if you join our waitlist, we store your email address to notify you about launch.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide and operate the Service (your account and your content).
  • To process subscriptions and payments.
  • To communicate with you about your account, updates, or the waitlist.
  • To understand and improve how the Service is used (only with your consent).

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of performing our contract with you (providing the Service), your consent (for analytics cookies and waitlist emails), and our legitimate interests (keeping the Service secure and improving it).

5. Service providers (processors)

We share data only with providers that help us run the Service:

  • Supabase for authentication and database hosting.
  • Polar for subscription payments.
  • Vercel for hosting and aggregate, privacy-friendly analytics.
  • Google Analytics for usage analytics, loaded only after you accept analytics cookies.
  • PostHog (EU region) for product analytics — which features you use and how, so we know what to improve. Only active after you accept analytics cookies; if you are signed in, events are linked to your account.
  • Resend for sending transactional email, such as feedback you send us.
  • Upstash for rate limiting, which protects the Service from abuse.

6. International transfers

Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard, so your data keeps the protection it has under EU law. 7. Cookies

We use essential cookies needed to run the Service (for example, to keep you signed in). Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page, and withdrawing is as easy as giving consent in the first place.

8. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and content are deleted. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or we complete the launch.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account and data directly in your account settings, or contact us using the details below.

If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in our case the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, www.aepd.es). We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first, but you are free to contact them directly.
